Mary A. Erlanger, PhD

Mary Erlanger returned to graduate school when many of her contemporaries were beginning to think about retirement. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling from the University of Georgia in 1987, and since then has been in private practice in Athens, specializing in working with older adults and families. Mary is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Professional Counselor. She is a National Certified Gerontological Counselor and she is an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Child and Family Services at the University of Georgia. She has written, lectured and given numerous workshops on various aspects of aging, grief, retirement, caregiving and mental health in addition to being a guest teacher for a variety of classes studying lifespan issues. Although her specialty is aging, Mary has a mixed practice with clients ranging from the twenties through the eighties.
