Richard F. King, LCSW

Rick received his Master's in Social Work from Indiana University in 1986 and is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Rick has had a variety of work experiences during his professional career. He has maintained a part time private practice for the past 16 years and has worked as the director of a school based counseling program in Indianapolis, which received the Governor's Award for Excellence. Rick has been an adoption caseworker, an Employee Assistance Counselor for both Johnson & Johnson and DuPont, a consultant and trainer for business, schools and non-profit organizations, and a Trauma Specialist in many settings including 3 weeks at ground zero post 9/11 and 2 weeks in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. In private practice, Rick works with children, adolescents, families, individuals and couples. Rick is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Experts in Trauma Stress, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, The Figley Institute, Red Cross and the Athens Crisis Response Team. Rick's philosophy in helping others was forged when he was a young man.
"As a teenager when my family suffered the loss of my brother we came together not only to overcome the pain but to actually gain strength from it. I learned at an early age that through the pain in our lives there is great potential for growth and healing. I bring this philosophy to my practice. It's what inspired me to help others."
